RYA Sea Survival Training

Sea Survival Training Saves Lives!
If you go to sea in any shape or form then this course is a must! Sea Survival knowledge is essential for anyone travelling on the sea.

The RYA Sea Survial Training is recognised in industry too, so will satisfy existing mariner qualifications as well as those who are looking to become crew or skipper commercially endorsed.

As well as being a very sobering topic the course is good fun! It is a well-proven fact that in the event of an emergency at sea people with Sea Survival training are considerably more likely to survive!
An important part of the Sea Survival course is the swimming pool practical training session; here you will experience first hand the problems of entering an uncooperative liferaft and assisting others fully kitted out in wet weather gear and wearing a lifejacket...
During the course you will cover:

Lifejackets - wearing and operation of
Liferafts and the equipment they contain
Types and uses of distress flares
Practical liferaft launching/inflation and drills
In water survival techniques
How to right a capsized liferaft
Cold water shock/hypothermia
Other medical aspects of sea survival
Search and rescue techniques
Helicopter rescue procedures
All of our courses are fun and informative and instruction is from our very experienced instructors, some of whom have spent nearly a lifetime at sea with the Royal Navy.

There are no pre-requisites for the RYA Sea Survival Course, and providing we have the appropriate support/carers we can cater for disabled sailors too! The course takes one day to complete commencing at 0900 and finishing at approximately 1700.

We strongly recommend that when attending the course you use your own lifejacket, however if you do not have one then we can provide one for you. Likewise it is also advisable to bring your own foul weather clothing or drysuit (providing it is clean!) so you can experience what it's like being fully clothed and wearing a lifejacket in the water. If you do not have your own we can provide overalls.

The cost of the course is £125pp but we do offer a discount for large groups/vessels. We will also price match depending on availability. Our Sea Survival Course price includes the following:
Free parking
Tea/Coffee
Sea Survival Handbook

Please note lunch is not included but there are plenty of opportunities to get something nearby.

The course can also be run from your location providing we have access to a suitable pool.
