The RYA National Powerboat Level 2 certificate (necessary for the ICC) is the introductory level to power boating, which aims to provide a practical solution to boat handling and safety in powerboats.
The RYA Powerboat Level 2 course consists of classroom theory and water-based practical tuition, covering the following topics:

During the RYA Powerboat Level II Course you will also get plenty of hands-on driving as we tutor you through skills such as: planing at speed picking up a mooring, anchoring etc. The major advantage of our Powerboat Level 2 Course run from our location is that we have access to sheltered harbour, which is ideal to practice those close quarter manoeuvres in. We then explore the farther reaches of the ,5+ square miles of the harbor basin where you will learn the skills to deal with buoyage, boat traffic (Rule of the Road) and tidal streams. Once confident we will transit through Portsmouth Naval Base on the way to the open sea for high speed manoeuvres and coastal water experience, completing your RYA Level 2 Powerboat Training. Note: The International Certificate of Competence (The ICC) can also be attained via the RYA for a small fee (free to RYA members). Our Powerboat Level 2 Course is £289 per person and includes certification, all safety equipment, boats and fuel and depending on the weather foul weather gear. However, the course can also be run from you location using your own boat, depending on type and availability. At Boatability we have ex Royal Navy Specialist Instructors as well as a choice of fast Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBS). The boats have either single or twin engines. Our preferred training choice is the 21' custom built cathedral hulled boats, with powerful 90hp engines.
