City and Guilds Boat Training
City and Guilds Boat training

Course Overview:

The newly developed City and Guilds accredited commercial boat handler course, run from Boatability Ltd based in Portsmouth is now available.

This course is an ideal springboard for anyone seeking employment or maybe already employed who are looking for a change, both nationally and internationally in the following industry sectors:

• Security
• Construction
• Oil Industry
• Wind Farms
• Fish Farms
• Leisure / Tourism

This course will help prepare personnel to legally, safely and confidently operate boats on the following waters:

• Inland Waterways & Lakes
• Rivers & Estuaries
• Costal Waters
• And Most, if not all International Waters

Currently any individual wishing to be employed to drive a motor boat on UK waters should hold the minimum of an RYA level 2 powerboat certificate and VHF radio license. However, some companies in the UK may also require individuals to hold a commercial endorsement for the RYA level 2, an MCA’s boat masters exemption license or higher?

If operating boats for a UK company abroad, then the 10 metre international certificate of competence (The ICC) is the certificate currently recognised in most countries.  The City and Guilds course will not only bolster existing qualifications, but due to the world wide recognition of quality training associated with the City and Guilds, may be recognised in some places where current qualifications are not!

A major advantage individuals will encounter is the networking benefits they will gain from across the various industry sectors who will also be attending this course.   So potentially the delegates could attend the same course as his or her future colleagues, managers or employer!

Boatability Ltd. will give every assistance to achieve Commercial accreditation where necessary.
